Ask HN: Best books you read in 2017?

nserrino: Without a doubt, the best book I read in 2017. I actually came across it in an interview with Alina Cohen of Initialized via the 20 minute VC podcast. It intrigued me to not know what it was about, and I recommend that people who are interested in reading it go in with as little information as possible.

Ask HN: What's one book that changed your life?

ydnaclementine: Just great, modern, adult scifi books that describe scale of time and space really well in a constantly surprising plot

Ask HN: Books you read in 2018?

madmax108: Finally, after years of people telling me to read this (on HN and off), I read the trilogy (Remembrance of Earth's Past), and I must say, the series does live up to the hype. Not only is it fast paced and deeply philosophical, but it's presented in a format very accessible to casual readers as well (unlike many hard sci-fi books which seem to revel in complexity). If I had to describe this series in a single line, it's "What would happen if China was the country that made first contact with an alien race?"

zengid: Awesome science, mind blowing ending!

Ask HN: Great books you read in 2018?

Matticus_Rex: Masterpiece of SF lit. For fans of hard SF only. The prose is not wonderful (as the author himself will tell you), but it's truly wonderful, and deserves all the considerable praise it's gotten over the years. I found the style fascinatingly different and refreshing, having never read much Eastern lit.

Ask HN: Read any good books lately?

peter_chickens: It is one the best sci-fi books out there. You will love the way it ends. It brings us to realise what we know and what we presently dont understand in the field of physics.

peter_chickens: I think it is the best book I have read in years. It held my attention all the way through and I am now starting the sequel.

Ask HN: Best books you read in the past decade?

adampk: Changed the scale I perceive existence
