How to Solve It

Comments and mentions from HN threads:

Ask HN: Books Like 'Calculus Made Easy'?

jwdunne: Read these to learn not just mathematical problem solving but in general. I don't think I've read a book quite like this before. The idea of a process and tools for problem solving is awesome.

Ask HN: Which books have helped you the most professionally?

null000: Great for me from an abstract problem solving point of view. It helped me get better at seeing which abstractions help solve an otherwise difficult problem, which is a useful skill to have for coding interviews and, really, most technically difficult problems encountered during the work day.

Ask HN: Are there books for mathematics like Feynman's lectures on physics?

jonbarker: More general purpose problem solving but written by a mathematician and one of the best books I've ever read!
